Root: The core of your leadership

Regard: How we see, value, and treat others

root & Regard

I founded Root & Regard with the purpose of partnering with leaders and organizations to create environments where human-centered leadership is the norm, where employees are valued and seen, and where the culture health is strong.

PROFESSIONAL COACHING

  • What are you yearning for?
  • What holds you back?
  • What courageous action are you inspired by?
  • What are you ready to move forward on?

Reflect on the following questions.

Knowing and fully expressing your root—the foundation of who you are, your
grounding—guides your leader within and authentic self. This coupled with how you and others regard one another impacts organizational effectiveness and results. Building this awareness and being committed to reflection enables continuous learning and growth.

I partner with you to champion your creative, resourceful, and whole self, to evoke new awareness, to generate insights, and to catalyze action around what you desire professionally and personally. Having a trusted partner that is fully present with you is an investment in yourself.

Services

When would you like to get started?

Reflect on your career and count the people who gave a damn about you.
What traits did they display?

I help organizations develop human-centered leaders that “give a damn" about their people by incorporating the following principles:

Being accessible to your team—go out of your way to establish one-on-one time.

Being inclusive in your decision making—you don’t have all the answers.

Investing time in your employee’s success and growth.

Getting to know your employees—their work, family, superpowers, and goals.

Demonstrating servant leadership—know how you can best serve your team members as an individual, within a team, and within the organization.

Being humble—ask your team members what their expectations are of you as a leader.

DEVELOPING HUMAN-CENTERED LEADERS

Positions or titles do not equate to leadership, nor does a position mean you have all the answers. Human-centered leaders are open, humble, and value the talents of their team.  Employees won’t go above and beyond for the organization or have loyalty if they don’t feel seen or valued.

ASSESSING ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE HEALTH

Facilitating a series of open-ended dialogue sessions will reveal how employees view and experience the organization’s culture. This, along  with a comprehensive analysis of policies and processes, will be assessed against nine culture health competencies.

Depending on the size of your organization, assessments can be completed within 30 days.

Whether you are you a start-up that wants to be conscious of the warning signs of culture problems as you scale, an established company dedicated to walking its talk as a best place to work, or a company considering an acquisition, a culture assessment will offer meaningful insights into how the organization is really operating.

How would you describe your workplace culture?

Growing up as an Army brat, I had to be open to change every few years as I was launched into new environments—people, schools, homes, geographic locations. These experiences shaped my regard for others, versatility, and ability to navigate unknown environments.

My career has been dedicated to operating in one of the most difficult and consequential business environments—the U.S. Intelligence Community—where I led and managed diverse portfolio of contracts and talent supporting every major national intelligence agency.

I have held executive roles in large, mid-tier, small, and technology start-up companies with changing ownership structures along the way. Being open to change enabled me to navigate and guide teams through numerous culture and operational shifts, including merger and acquisition activities.

From my early team leadership to subsequent executive leadership roles, I have been a servant leader and championed others’ growth while also exceeding demanding corporate goals. The golden thread throughout my career has been to coalesce both head and heart skills to achieve financial results, unparalleled employee experience, and exceptional customer delivery.
